To whom it may concern, I would like to thank the medical professionals, doctors, nurses & staff who collectively made my experience at Sutherland Hospital Emergency Department and at Sydney Hospital Acute Hand & Trauma Unit as easy and successful as it could be.
I arrived at the Sutherland Hospital Emergency Department with my right hand index finger swollen and in immense pain. After blood test & x-ray it was determined that I had contracted an internal infection which required surgery, which Sutherland Hospital was unable to do.
I was informed that I was booked into Sydney Hospital Acute Hand Trauma unit. After ultrasound and CT scans at Sydney Hospital, I was informed that the surgeons would have to perform exploratory surgery on my right index finger to find out what was causing the infection.
The operation went well, which required me to stay at Sydney Hospital with antibiotics administered until the infection, which was sent to pathology for culture growth to determine exactly what bacteria it was.
I was discharged from Sydney Hospital with antibiotics to kill the internal infection. With each person with whom I interacted with, was confident, caring and gave me the impression I was in very competent hands before and after every procedure administered to me.
I am still recovering from the effects of the infection to my right hand index finger, which is slowly returning to it’s pre-infection appearance and ability.
My surgery and recovery have been more than I could have hoped for and I attribute it to the excellent care I received. from the people associated with Sutherland Hospital emergency department and Sydney Hospital acute hand & trauma unit.
I am deeply grateful that I and my community have access to such a high quality organisation of professionals and facilities.
