"Quitting Drinking"

About: Alcohol and Drug Counselling - Dalby (Lives Lived Well) Lives Lived Well - Dalby

(as the patient),

I look back and realise how many self sabotaging excuses I would make. I'm now 5 weeks sober and it wasn't nowhere near as hard as I thought. I wouldn't have been able to do it without my counsellor though. She was ever so patient and understanding and always found a way to help me see things from a different perspective, making my journey far less overwhelming. She taught me so many things in regards to drinking and the mental health that comes with it. I'm forever grateful for my counsellor and Lived Lived Well service as they helped me to turn my life around and become a better and healthier mother, partner and person in general. My long term goal is to not exceed social drinking, but I know if I were to relapse that I can reach out again to get the help I needed. Based on my experience I definitely recommend giving this a go if you're struggling, it may not be as hard or overwhelming as it seems!

Dear Turtlejr77,

What a great story. Well done on seeking help and maintaining abstinence for 5 weeks! Reaching out is often the hardest step. It seems like you have really listened to your counsellor and put your learnings into practice.

It's lovely to read that you are 'a better and healthier mother, partner and person'.

I wish you all the best for a happy future and encourage you to always reach out if you need additional support.

Kind regards,

LM
