"Poor bedside handover"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / State Rehabilitation Service Wards A&B, Wards 1A& 2A

(as the patient),

I have been an inpatient at SRS1A for the past few months. Whilst I have been told that handover should happen at the bedside, and it is an accreditation standard, at least once per week the nurses do not handover at the bedside.

I have made it known that I always want handover at the bedside, yet it still gets missed frequently. I have attempted to correct this multiple times, yet the nurses still get it wrong. When I questioned a recent evening's nurses about it, I believe the nurse lied. They claimed I had not been in my room, yet I had been there for the past hour.

I have tried raising the lack of bedside handover with shift coordinators and the nurse unit managers, however it is still frequently missed. I don’t know what more I can do to get a consistent bedside handover.
