"Lack of outcome"

My spouse had cause to attend SCG ED a few days ago, she has a Nephrostomy tube and a Stent, as a result of cervical cancer treatment.

She attended ER due to large amounts of blood in her urine from the stent. The first few hours were exceptional ,descisions were made quickly and efficently ,care and compassion was shown .

It was decided she needed intavenous antibiotics ,requiring a stay . After change of shift a new Dr decided due to the amount of bleeding some investigation was required to determine the cause of the bleeding.

After another change of shift a new (possibly jnr dr) came to see her ,claimed they couldnt read previous Dr;s notes ,and decided my spouse was ok and could leave. With the statement if it didnt cease go and see her GP.

My spouse left ED experiencing the same issues she attended for ,with no explanation for the cause. Some five days later my spouse is still bleeding badly ,left feeling in a void as what to do .

The apparent difference in patient care , people skills ,care factor ,and medicinal skills between Dr's is truly astounding .

If you can imagine fighting stage 4 cervical metastatic cancer, having to have stents, Nephrostomy tube, with constant UTI's, and then being dismissed by dr's , how would you feel .

My spouse has been treated at SGH many many times over the last few, meeting some exceptional Dr's ,and absolutely amazing nurses ,it's such a shame there seems to be one or two who are, in my opinion, basically only interested in what they find interesting.

My spouse is left in fear her cancer has returned and will have to attend local GP to get a referal, where as I believe that if the last Dr to see her who apparently couldnt read notes, and seemingly could not be bothered to follow up , had bothered to a least confirm what they said ,the issue would by now have been resolved.

I wanted to update my story.

My spouse re attended SCG ED as of this week and is still in hospital .

She recieved a blood transfusion and had an operation to stop bleeding in her bladder, and remove clots.

All of which I believe should have been sorted last visit, what ever the reply it is not satisfactory.

We take your feedback seriously and will ensure it is shared with the relevant teams to improve continuity of care. Your spouse's well-being is our priority, and we encourage you to reach out if further assistance is needed.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. We are committed to providing the best care possible and supporting your spouse through this challenging time.

Kind regards,

I feel the written response I recieved is shameful. Not even an apology for seemingly sending my partner home from ER in exactly the same condition they attended in.

Luckily when my partner re- presented -with the same issues as before the attending DRs knew there job, so my partner received a transfusion, recieved surgery, recieved correct medication.

The generic response was disapointing, showed lack of empathy, and would appear as though the complaint has not been read, or not understood.
