I attended Derby Hospital as the parent of a teenager having wisdom teeth extracted. The whole admission through to discharge process was smooth and professionally handled.
The ward staff attentive but not intrusive.
Anaesthetic staff welcoming and professionally diligent (working through identification and consent). While also gentle and caring for my quietly anxious teen.
Theatre staff were supportive of my request to be present for induction of anaesthesia.
Recovery staff again diligent in post anaesthetic airway observation and supportive of both parents presence in recovery as our teen recovered
Dental surgeon (Bruce) old school decent, came to find us at the end of the operation to tell us how it went.
Back in the ward, staff were again attentive but not intrusive. Allowing our teen to pace her own return to drinking and eating prior to discharge home.
I am impressed that while we live in a small remote regional town we were able to stay local for a significant procedure and the care we received was first class
