I would like to share my recent experience following elective orthopaedic surgery at Sutherland Hospital. From the booking process to discharge my experience was so positive and seamless.
I attended the surgical short stay on the day of admission, the staff I saw were welcoming and reassuring, the new environment was clean and comfortable. I made my way to theatre and was greeted by a fantastic assisting anesthetist who gave me the most thorough information of what to expect and was able to answer all my questions.
I awoke in recovery with some pain and the staff ensured my pain was quickly controlled and that I was comfortable.
I was then transferred to Jara ward and received a warm welcome. Every staff member allocated to me treated me with dignity and respect.
I believe the staff on Jara truly encompass the heart of caring, each staff member worked together to provide person centered compassionate care. The ward was busy with a high acuity, heavy, demanding workload but the staff went about their roles and duties without complaint and ensured that each patient received high quality care.
The following day I was assessed by physiotherapy who ensured I was safe for discharge. The discharge process swift, I was provided with all information required for follow up and was able to leave the hospital feeling pain free, relieved to be going home but mostly grateful for the care I received from everyone I met.
Being a clinician within SESLHD I was apprehensive being on the "other side". Its never easy being a patient but the TSH staff made my patient experience so positive. Thank you...
