Exceptional Care and Expertise at Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick, Sydney

My wife’s journey with stage three endometrial cancer began in November 2023 and continues to this day. The care and expertise provided by the doctors and specialists we have seen at Prince of Wales Hospital have been nothing short of extraordinary.

From the outset, the team at the Royal Hospital for Women’s Gynaecological Oncology Department, under the leadership of Dr. Yeh and Clinical Nurse Jenny, provided exceptional care. My wife could take part in a life-saving immunotherapy trial involving the revolutionary drug dostarlimab, thanks to Dr. Yeh’s dedication to clinical care and research. This treatment defied her initial prognosis of three to six months, providing us with much needed hope.

Throughout her illness, she has faced several major complications, requiring urgent hospitalisation. Each time, the world-class Acute Services Adult Emergency team provided outstanding care. Their attention to detail and seamless coordination between multiple specialties ensured she received the best possible treatment. The hospital specialists took a comprehensive approach to several serious issues. These included a UTI, DVT, a severe rash, and mobility problems. Their approach was remarkable.

Beyond expert medical care, the additional support from speech therapists, physiotherapists, and aged care nurses has made a significant difference in her recovery and overall well-being.

During her cancer treatment, a suprapubic catheter needed to be inserted to treat a tumour related urethral blockage under the expertise of the Urology Clinic, led by Dr. Tom.

As the cancer progressed, radiation therapy at the welcoming Nelune comprehensive cancer complex in the Bright Centre, under the care of Dr. Stephen, provided further hope and relief. A decline in mobility led to another long hospital stay. Many specialists, including Dr. James, a skilled Professor of Neurology, provided care, helping her regain her walking confidence.

Every department we encountered showed an unwavering commitment to patient care, ensuring that each step of this journey received professionalism, compassion, and the latest advancements in medical science.

The level of expertise, dedication, and care provided by the teams we have seen at Prince of Wales Hospital has been truly world class. Their relentless efforts in treating and supporting patients through such challenging times are nothing short of extraordinary, and we remain deeply grateful for their exceptional service.
