"Experience with Aboriginal Midwifery Service"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Aboriginal Midwifery Group Practice (Aboriginal MGP) Patient Assisted Travel Scheme - WACHS Kimberley

(as the patient),

I came down from Broome as I was forced to because of my high BMI. I did have a lot of anxiety coming from a small town to a city to have a baby and also some minor complications with bub and my placenta. As soon as I I met my midwife Tamarra she was very welcoming and ease my anxiety about being down in Perth having a baby. While she was on her days off Jacinta helped me with getting onto the minor complications with Bub and my placenta. In which everything was fine and normal after regular ultra sounds and check ups. Also thanks to the diabetes specialist for helping me change my diet to maintain my gestational diabetes without having to go on insulin. I felt nervous being down here with no family support once I go into labour but Tamarra was all the support I needed. I’d like to thank her and all the other midwives in the clinic and King Edward’s that looked after me and Bub. The only problem I had was I did not get any support with PATS to come down and unsure if I can get any support with them going back.

It’s wonderful that they were able to ease your anxiety and help you manage your complications and gestational diabetes effectively. I’m sure Tamarra, Jacinta, and the rest of the team will be touched to receive your kind feedback.
