"Empowering and positive birth experience"

About: Bentley Hospital

(as the patient),

I was in my 8 weeks of pregnancy and after consulting with my local GP on my choice of hospital and care, i came home and did some research. After learning about the Midwifery Group Practice i was very curious and excited and would love to go have this service for my first time giving birth.

When i had the follow up session with GP, they were also not aware of this service and not sure how to refer me to this, which i then self-referred myself. Although was first rejected for Armadale Midwifery Group Practice, but a kind reception lady from Armadale Hospital has let me know to try the new MBC in Bentley (which is in my catch area and i was accepted in the next couple days after filling in the form online).

I was under the care of Emily. The level of care and service was above and beyond from the beginning till the end of my pregnancy up till 6 weeks post-partum. I eventually did not get to do my preferred water birth but i was still super happy with how it all went as i was carefully given detailed explanation and guide till the final delivery. Although this is a midwife led service, any important findings or need to consult the OBGYN, Emily did not hesitate to call up the doctor and have their second opinion. Which all this was also discussed and explained to me in a thorough and detailed manner for my knowledge and decision.

Just want to express how thankful i am to Emily, Frankie and Liz, and frankly the whole team in MBC Bentley Hospital. They have treated me with such kindness and i always feel like i have a choice or being made aware of the decision throughout the experience and process, and not to mention always putting me and baby's health as the main priority while also fight for my choice till the end :)

Thank you for letting me have such an empowering and positive first-time giving birth experience.

Dear firsttimemom

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt experience on Care Opinion. I was truly delighted to hear about your positive journey with the Midwifery Group Practice at Bentley Hospital.

It is wonderful to know that you felt supported and well-cared for throughout your pregnancy and post-partum period. Emily, Frankie and Liz, and the entire team at the Midwifery Birth Centre will be thrilled to hear your kind words. Your story highlights the dedication and compassion our staff strives to provide every day.

It was especially pleasing to read that you felt empowered and informed during your care, even when plans changed. Ensuring that you and your baby’s health were prioritised while respecting your choices is a reassuring aspect of patient and family-centred care.

The new Midwifery Birth Centre at Bentley Hospital is unlike traditional maternity hospitals, allowing expectant women who have been determined to be at low risk according to national guidelines, to self-refer.

Thank you once again for your lovely feedback. I wish you and your family all the best.

Kind regards

Ben Noteboom
