"Continuity of care through pregnancy and birth"

About: Leongatha Memorial Hospital

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth to our second child at Leongatha Hospital. I wanted to birth at Leongatha following a positive experience the first time round.

By choosing Leongatha I knew I would have continuity of care throughout my pregnancy from my local GP obstetrician Dr Elise and the midwifery team at GSHS and birth in a location where I felt safe and supported.

My pregnancy was straightforward until the third trimester when due to decreased fetal movements and falling centiles on growth scans there was a need to put a plan in place for additional monitoring to ensure the safety of our much awaited second child. Thankfully I went into labor spontaneously at term and had a straightforward and overwhelmingly positive birth experience.

It was reassuring to have a familiar team of midwives and GP obstetricians on staff who knew our story and provided responsive care throughout pregnancy, birth and the days after. Thank you to the maternity team and Dr Elise at GSHS we are so grateful for the care you provided.
