About: Kalgoorlie Mental Health Inpatient Service

(as the patient),

I came in to get help with applying for a rehab service, because I have been on meth for 10 years and I want to take back control of my life.

When I first presented I felt like the staff were here to help me and I didn't feel like they were being judgemental.

All the staff members were really friendly and helpful. I was also given help for physical health which was really important too.

I am a proud Aboriginal man and therefore I have cultural needs which have been well and truly cared for by both Non-Indigenous and Indigenous staff. This is a service that is in my opinion underestimated in what it can provide for people in need.

My stay has been very therapeutic and is the very start of my recovery. I am very thankful to all Staff at the Mental Health Inpatient Unit in Kalgoorlie.

Hi Very Thankful Patient

Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your positive experience at Kalgoorlie Hospital Mental Health Inpatient Unit.

Mental Health, along with alcohol and other drug misuse, has a huge impact on people’s lives, families and communities. Taking the step to seek help and engaging with that help is the first step on the recovery journey for people. Thank you for acknowledging the dedicated doctors, nurses and allied health staff who have helped you take that first step. I have provided your feedback to the staff directly as well as the WA Country Health Service Mental Health Executive.

I commend your initiative to take back control of your life and wish you the best as you navigate your journey and reach out for the assistance that is there for you.

Kind regards,

Kim Pedler
Regional Manager Mental Health
