"A visit to ED"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I fell in town and did not want to go to ED but my better half insisted, the triage nurse who I didn’t get her name was so kind and organised pain relief for me while I waited for an x-ray which made me feel less silly for attending and was so appreciated given how busy they looked.

Dr Katherine then came out into the wait room to check in on me and get my process started and continued to engage with me even when she probably didn’t have to. She  was so thorough for something that felt quite insignificant compared to other patients being treated also doing tasks that could have easily been given to someone else.

The wait room nurse I think George was polite and told me how to escalate if anything changed and the PSA who escorted me to XRAY was kind and helped me beyond the task of just a transfer.

I felt heard and respected in a presentation I really didn’t feel was worthy of ED but needed and got more than I anticipated both in the way I was treated and a cam boot with crutches!

Dear betasf93

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on Care Opinion.

The team at Geraldton Health Campus are truly committed to providing high quality care that our community can be proud of. In a fast-paced ED environment it was so encouraging to read of the numerous staff that attended to you with such compassion and kindness. I will ensure that all the staff involved in your care are provided your kind words and I will add my appreciation here of the great work done by the triage nurse, Dr Katherine, nurse George, the PSA plus everyone else who assisted you on the day.

I do hope your injuries are healing and you are keeping well.

Kind regards

Dr Margaret Sturdy
