"The treatment I have faced"

About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Absolutely disgusted, spent 27 hours in the corridor in ED, then gave me a bed in quick stay, then put me back in the corridor, I finally got a bed in the ward.

I have been told I can't have my my pain killers until I go to sleep, I've not had a hot meal properly yet because I didn't eat those things, I'm feeling incredibly stereotyped because I'm homeless and have bad teeth, I don't even do drugs.

A social worker came to see me yesterday, but none of the nurses told me that they had came as I was having a smoke, I seen other's come and go and get beds while I sit in the corridor like a dog, I feel humiliated and upset I haven't had a hot meal for a while. I feel the treatment I've received is appalling.

Dear airzg85

I am sorry to hear about your experience. It sounds incredibly frustrating and disheartening. No one should have to go through that, especially when already feeling unwell.

You might want to consider discussing your care and dietary needs with your allocated nurse or medical team to ensure they are aware of your concerns and can adapt your care as needed.

I thank you for your feedback and appreciate your frustration. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your treating team for your needs.
