Recently I completed the Lives Lived Well Drug and Alcohol day program.
3 week program 12 sessions
2.5 hours a day.
Honestly was an amazing way to start the day.
Learnt so many strategies. The staff I met are very involved and don’t just take there working hats off as you walk out the door. They are happy to stay back and debrief with you. Happy to recommend other services that may be a good support for you.
The environment the first day was so nerve racking. But by the end such a good judgement free environment.
You don’t have to be clean to be in the program, which I found amazing. You just can’t come to the program under the influence. You don’t feel like you need to hide any lapses. I believe you can be open and honest which makes you get the most out of the session.
This was the first one done both online and in person and I think that’s great. I did both on days I couldn’t make it in. And I felt just as involved. The group would speak about experiences and give ideas of what worked better for them.
The group is run off handouts and a PowerPoint. But when the group found a subject that needed to be touched on we would go off that. So made it feel more natural and shaped to the individual.
Very involved, from what I saw everyone is given the opportunity to have their input.
I’ve never done a program like this before, but I would honestly recommend this to everyone as the first step. It’s rewarding. And I left feeling a sense of achievement. I believe you walk away with many new strategies. Ones that you may have never thought.
Definitely worth a shot.
