"My transgender child's experience"

About: CAMHS Midwest

(as a parent/guardian),

My child and I saw a clinician for their increasing depression and anxiety.

The clinician was unprepared for my child's appointment. Had no notes, or their referral with them at all. Also there was another staff member in the room as well. Neither of them introduced themselves to us. No name tags either.

This clinician had no idea whatsoever why we were there and didn't even ask us. They proceeded to guess why we were there and create their own story with no accurate details.

I recall they then said to my transgender child, so you regret your transition, right? And began to mis gender them the remainder of the appointment. Despite my correcting them three times.

In my opinion, this inadequate, unprofessional and dangerous behavior is unacceptable!
