I have been seeing the staff at Armadale Hospital community rehab clinic for a number of months for a neurodegenerative condition. It has been a bit of a rollercoaster as I adjust to the diagnosis but what has helped me so much are the incredible staff who work there. I have to say they are all incredibly hardworking, kind, friendly and professional people from the front reception staff through to all the staff I see. I noticed they always have a smile and kind word for everyone.
In particular, I have been seeing Renee the speech therapist regularly, and her support and guidance have been invaluable to me. I was previously told for many years nothing could be done to help me if I was not willing to have vocal cord Botox for a condition called laryngeal dystonia, but after seeing Renee and starting medication, my vocal ability has been improving, along with my swallowing issues. She is a breath of fresh air who has given me hope for the first time in a decade as her professional knowledge, sense of humour and support are second to none. She is a credit to the community rehab clinic and I'm so grateful for her, along with all the other health professionals I have had the pleasure of working with in community rehab at Armadale.
