"Having a cold"

About: Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was unwell with a cold/cough, wanting to have chest listened to.

Hospital was busy with a couple heart patients.

Nurses were really busy. They did a RAT test & left me outside in Ambulance Bay.

Told me they would come back—they wrapped my top ½ in a blanket as I was cold.

30 mins later—popped out to say they would be back—no beds in Emergency.

30 mins later, 2 nurses came to say—“we’re busy, sorry.” I said I was cold—the cold air was making cough worse.

Nurses—“Sorry, we’ll try Room 3.” 45 mins later, my feet & lower legs were freezing—I couldn’t stop coughing as night air was in & outside in Ambulance Bay was getting colder.

No-one came back—I felt really uncared for.

I’m elderly  & understand busy Emergency—and, I was sick & needed to be inside, in the warm—I went back home.
