"MGP4 experience"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

On the 25th Dec I gave birth to my beautiful girl; I didn’t do it by myself, I had the wonderful support and care of my midwife Chloe from the MGP.

I went into this last pregnancy with extreme anxiety and fear due to the experience and lack of support I had been given from my first birth (at a different hospital.) My first appointment came up and I was introduced to Chloe, she was instantly welcoming, had all the information I was looking for, made me feel safe, prepared and made my anxieties and worries fizzle.

With each appointment I felt more excited and less scared to have my baby because of Chloe and her immaculate support and care.

Fast forward to my labour; I had the amazing opportunity to have a water birth and that was also a good experience for me; Chloe was by my side at all times making sure the pool was the right temp and ensuring me with affirmative words and making me feel like I can do it. After my baby was born, I was a bit anxious about having a PPH (had one last time) at the time I was so sure it was happening, but all the midwives with me were telling me it’s okay and at the time, it wasn’t happening. Eventually the placenta came out and then it started happening.. however, all was calm, everyone was talking to me through everything that was happening, I felt seen, cared for and extremely safe.. they didn’t make a huge scene of it and the whole time I got to have my baby.

In the end, I was taken to surgery all the while Chloe was still by my side. she held my hand in the surgery area while I was getting prepped, I woke up and all was well, I felt good, not scared and again super safe… I got taken to the ASCU, where I was greeted by some lovely ladies that I’ll never ever forget and after a few minutes Chloe, my partner and new baby all came in.

Although the one thing I was most scared about happening again, this time I’m not traumatised, I’m not sad, I’m super content and happy with how Chloe and king Eddie’s staff handled my complications.. I’ve said it a million times already but I felt very safe and cared for.

If you can, I highly recommend the MGP because it’ll be the best birthing and pregnancy experience you could have. I’m forever grateful to have been apart of that and moving forward I hope to be apart of MGP with my future pregnancies.

I can’t say it enough, Chloe was everything I really needed in a midwife and I'm eternally grateful for her.
