I presented my self at ED in Armadale Hospital to assess significant swelling and pain on both ankles, feet and calves.
I had been an Inpatient at Armadale Hospital prior to this visit , admitted for four days., and had sepsis bacteria in my blood stream, and was very unwell.
Around 10 days after been discharged, I presented to Armadale ED, with swelling, pain etc.
They did a blood test to eliminate any residue bacteria in my blood, and sent me home with a suggestion of Gout, in light of my blood having Nil Uric Acid present.
I then presented again at ED Armadale around 4 days later with same issues, but worse.
I was admitted, late after sitting in waiting area, from 8.30 am till they took me to a space created in EDU, was not even a Bay, it was a space they store equipment., between bay 7/ and 8.
No privacy curtain, no nurse call button, thin bed, no power point, no tv, phone etc, because it wasn't even a Bay for beds/patients.
My spouse rang and complained to unit Manager, and I recall they said, We can return me back to chair in ED Waiting room if I prefer, how Disgusting.
At 10pm moved to MAU unit, another holding area, single room, but no toilet in room, next day moved to single room in Actual Ward, but next day moved to 4 bed ward, with a patient screaming day and night, other two patients had Dementia and didn't realise where they were actually.
We told Co ordinator that as a Patient that was admitted as a Private patient in a public hospital, an assurance they give and advertise, that we would be made comfortable and looked after as a Private Patient.
We told Senior staff that this wasn't acceptable, and either find me somewhere that was acceptable, otherwise organise Discharge papers ASAP.
Was moved to another 4bed room on same ward, much quieter, but No toilet, shower facilities within this room.
I believe this area was never intended for beds, as no facilities as stated, and none of the lights above Bays could be turned off or on independently, this area has been converted to fit more curtained off bays on the Cheap.
My biggest Gripe, I was put In 4 different beds / locations over 3days, and Armadale Hospital promises to look after you and make you Comfortable, if you are prepared to use your private health cover, admit as a Private Patient.
In my opinion, what this Hospital says, and what it does, are two very different things.
Never Again, based on my experience, and I will make sure I inform as many people about the way this Hospital treated me.
