On a recent afternoon while loading some small soda water bottles in the fridge one dislodged from the packaging, shattered & caused laceration to both lower legs. Having somewhat staunched the pumping blood my wife & neighbour delivered me to the FS Emergency Dept.
On arrival a young lady on reception changed my rudimentary dressing, made sure that I was placed in a wheelchair with clear instruction not to try walking. After a long wait for which in my haste I was ill prepared (no book to read) I was wheeled into the treatment area suitably bored.
Dr Mitchell was the treating physician who fairly quickly organised X-rays & afterwards cleansed the wounds most thoroughly, deadened the area, organised Tetanus jab & stitched the major lacerations. Afterwards Dr Mitchell provided written instructions on after care.
Not being a regular attendee at FS ED I had no comparative experience. Suffice to say I believe that the care & expertise shown to me both by Dr Mitchell & the nursing staff was outstanding & would commend all concerned who work in sometimes difficult & challenging circumstances. Well done to all concerned!
