I am a diabetic who developed an ulcer on one of my toes. After trying to get antibiotics for about a month, I finally got a drs appointment the doctor gave me antibiotics but not the right ones to treat my diabetic feet. I also got to see a podiatrist at the same drs surgery who I felt was more worried about cutting my toe nails than the actual problem toe.
They then referred me to podiatry at the local hospital. After another 3 weeks I had my appointment there and was seen by Tep who was awesome. He told me straight up that he was going to try and save the toe, but unfortunately that didn’t happen.
I had an appointment late last month for the amputation. Unfortunately the infection got worse and I was admitted through the ed on a Tuesday and had the operation Wednesday and was out on Thursday.
Since then I have had a few follow up appointments with the high risk foot clinic in Albany and found everyone there to be amazing and very professional everything was explained to me so I could understand.
