"my experience at the hospital"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as the patient),

excuse punctuation - just had hand surgery. Sent to the hand hospital from st george. Arrived at about 7am and was seen quickly by the nurses who were lovely. After consult I was told I needed to wait in the waiting area till at least till after 12 to be called to be admitted. I made it clear I wasn't leaving, I was going to wait.

I waited outside as the waiting room was very cold, the nurse knew i was there as they took my glucose levels there and gave me 2 drinks. I waited from about 8.30, slept on the public chair as id been given a painkiller. about 12.30 I started to get thirsty, it was a hot day. I went back to emergency to ask if i could drink anything.

One of the nurses came out the door and got quite rude - I recall telling me, of course you cant, you're having surgery, you should be at level 2! why aren't you up there? you should have asked where you should be! you should be upstairs!

I believe I made it very clear id be waiting like i was told to! They said- you need to go there now! no advice on how to get there etc.... very unhelpful. during this I saw people being called by a nurse, sticking their head out. calling the name once or twice then going inside. They didn't even seemingly bother to look outside at the chairs. So off I went to level 2, nobody at reception, finally found the station. they said the ER staff do this all the time, give patients the wrong messages! Also they had my phone number, why the hell didn't they call me and tell me what time! As far as I'm concerned that's not my job? What happened to the chart at the end of the bed? If they seemingly don't know what they are giving and when how should i?

The next morning after breakfast the food staff asked me what i wanted for lunch. So i asked for the seafood option, they said they didnt have any seafood but they'd just offered fish to the patient opposite! I said ill have the fish please and they said no you cant because on their chart it says vegetarian - i tried to explain that i was the one who said that- and i actually eat fish.  (its always to hard to explain pescetarian) They says no you cant! They would have to ask the nurse, so they did and came and said it was ok, for goodness sake!

So 10 minutes later i hear the nurse of my ward telling their supervisor that the patient in C, me! didnt want to leave till after lunch! I'd never said that! I just answered the question the food staff was asking! very frustrating. otherwise the staff were lovely and helpful
