"Shanty Creek"

Hey there! This is the second rehabilitation facility I've been to in the last 15 years, I didn't finish the last one as it was not like Shanty Creek. I have completed several courses relating to my drug and alcohol dependency in the past but felt that I didn't have adequate support to rectify my addictive behavior.

In the past 3 years, I have been in jail for most of that time and never actually sought support like I have when I reached out to the Shanty Creek Staff. I was meant to attend a rehab last time I got out, but I did not even make it there and ended up back in jail a week later. I was more willing before I attended the Shanty Creek program. My case manager< Tanya worked with the Crest support team to make sure that I was transferred to the Lotus Glenn Correctional Centre to be closer to the rehab facility, which I did arrive at on my release day.

What was good with this Facility was the staff's help and support, and the courses that were run which made it easier for me and other residents to understand. Since I've moved right away from my family down south, the staff has been more understanding of my situation and has supported me through my recovery journey. I think what could have been better here would be a couple more supervised shopping outings under the watchful eyes of the staff, and a little more access to our phones to be able to get stuff sorted out ourselves so that we were less dependent upon the staff members. 

The care at Shanty Creek was good and the staff made my stay here more comfortable for me whilst I was doing the program. If I ever needed to talk whether it was to my case manager or any other staff, they'd make me feel comfortable which so much easier to express what I needed to get stuff of my chest. The medical staff was good and helped with any conditions I was going through physically. All in all I'm thankful to have attended the Shanty Creek Rehab facility and to be able to interact with staff and make new friends in the process.
