"Appalling interaction at radiology"

About: Kununurra Hospital / Medical Imaging

(as the patient),

Had an appointment at radiology and upon arrival I felt the staff member I saw was extremely rude and dismissive, and at first did not even acknowledge I was standing right in front of them waiting despite me kindly greeting them by name. They then asked me to wait as it was quite busy at the time.

While waiting the staff member continually spoke quite loudly about how frustrated and annoyed they were, which I feel is highly unprofessional and uninviting to the people in the waiting room. They then called me up to the counter and loudly read out the reason for my being there and my full name. They then immediately complained that they didn’t know what that test meant and sighed loudly.

I believe that not only is this extremely unprofessional but it breaches confidentiality. Due to the nature of my appointment I certainly did not wish for the whole waiting room to know why I was there, but no matter the reason it is completely not ok for your medical condition and nature of visit to be read out for all to hear.

I have been to the radiology department on several occasions and consistently been appalled by the unprofessional, rude and unkind manner of this staff member. Of course times can be busy and difficult, it is ok to be frustrated, but I feel it is not ok to make people feel belittled and stupid simply for turning up to their appointment. I believe that many complaints have been made against this employee who cannot seem to consistently act in a professional manner.
