"My recovery"

About: Lives Lived Well – Wollongong (Day Program)

(as the patient),

I first came into contact with water shed in 2015 as a resident at the residential rehab it was good but I was involuntarily discharged I stayed clean for 6 months then relapsed due to not doing any maintenance. I used for 3 yrs and went back to watershed residential rehab in 2018 I was involuntarily discharged again but I spoke to a counsellor and told them I couldn't go back to my area because I would relapse.

The counsellor was able to get me into accommodation and I was able to do the Wollongong day program I kicked alot of goals I gained employment I learnt about myself sober and realised what I wanted out of life I ended up moving to a bad area but kept up my maintenance with Wollongong day program.

The road to recovery isn't a straight line there will be set back and stumbles but I've now been clean for 30 straight months have a full time job have kept my license have touched base with Wollongong day program and redone the course to refresh my knowledge and  strategies to stay clean.

I found the program to be very insightful, accommodating the trainers are very knowledgeable and work with you to suit your personal needs which is why I will only deal with this place they are non judgemental caring and are not afraid to call you out which is needed when in fresh recovery they are lovely people who really care and want you to live your best life shout out to Darelle 😁

Dear Clean me 2024,

Firstly, Happy New Year - and well done for reaching 30 sober months. It's great to read how much you benefited from Watershed, and how cementing your knowledge by attending the Day Program with Darelle helped so much.

Abstinence is a long road, and only you can make it happen so you should be very proud of yourself. It's great that you recognised your triggers and were able to source alternative accommodation. Also, well done on employment - it makes such a difference to living a productive life.

Be kind to yourself and celebrate your achievements. Well done.

Regards,

LM
