"Snake Bite"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Bunbury Paediatric Ward Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My grandson was bitten by a snake in the chook yard of the family property. My daughter was home alone, no family members in town at that time & she had no vehicle. An ambulance was summoned & my grandson transported to Margaret River ED.

The professional treatment & emotional support for them both was overwhelming.

At times like these, it slams it home to remind our community how fortunate we are to have them.

Special thanks to James, Leanne, Frank, Brendan & other ambulance officers, & Bunbury Hospital ED & Children’s Ward staff.

Dear marsmq99

I do hope that your grandson has now recovered from his snake bite. How traumatic for both him and your daughter to be alone in that situation. I am so glad to hear that they received professional, timely care.

At Bunbury hospital we do strive to provide the best care possible to all our patients.

I will pass on your kind words to both the Emergency Department and the Children's Ward. We will also ensure your story is relayed to the St John Ambulance team.

Thank you for giving the teams feedback, it is greatly appreciated.

Once again, I do hope your grandson has fully recovered and enjoying his holidays.

Your Sincerely

Karen Horsley

Service Co-Director

Dear marsmq99,

I would like to thank you most sincerely for taking the time to write about your grandson’s experience at the Margaret River Hospital, following his snake bite.

It is really good to hear that the staff were calm and polite and that the care provided was professional and supportive in this harrowing experience.

ED, as you can imagine, can be stressful places, however, when we receive feedback such as yours it is really appreciated by staff.

I shall be glad to pass on your kinds words and add my appreciation of the care the team provided.

I hope that your grandson and daughter (and the rest of the family) are feeling better after this incident and that you all never have to experience another snake bite again!

Kind regards,

Sandy Znidarsich
