I got there 15 mins early as per the appointment letter.
Saw the nurses. They were kind and helpful and kept my file at the drs table. As per their role.
I was meant to be seen by a senior dr.
My senior dr had two junior doctors that it seems they must have been supervising. And every 10 mins they were like clockwork walking into the senior doctor's room and the senior doctor would leave their patient to go sit with the junior's. Initially I thought it was one or two patients that they were helping out. But no this was for every patient they saw.
I feel it is ok to supervise if you are not neglecting your own patients and their time.
Three hrs later I was the only person sitting in the waiting room. People who had come after me were seen and gone. But my senior dr was still supervising others.
Eventually I was called in by one of two juniors who saw my file sitting on the senior drs table. The junior doctor saw me for 5 mins and called in the senior dr who, I understand, should have seen me in the first place 3 hrs earlier. Just for them to turn around and say something my optometrist had already suggested.
I believe if you seemingly don’t have time or don’t want to prioritise your own patients don’t take anyone on. If you have to prioritise your juniors and their patients please let them be the ones who take on the patients and you just supervise. Don’t, in my opinion, try to take on everything and do a poor job of both.
A very disappointed patient.
