"Misdiagnoses"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Rheumatology Department

(as a service user),

I have been unwell for nearly 4 years, my gp sent me via referral to rheumatology at Fiona Stanley hospital as my symptoms were unbearable leaving me bed bound alot of the time, after a 2 yr wait they sent then me away stating I was just overweight.

Then my gp sent a further referral where they did a few tests and biopsies and put me on medication which made a huge difference.

They then ascertained in their view I was just overweight a senior staff member stated they were refusing to see me as they had 'exhausted all options.'

Within 1 week I was seeing a private specialist who was able to locate part of the issue because they took a different approach to locating my issues. So obviously Fiona Stanley did not exhaust everything.

Further to this I found I have been had long exposure to a gas leak in my home, which the moment the leak was resolved 80% of my symptoms disappeared.

All the way through my journey I asked if they thought I had been exposed to something or a substance, each time telling me no.

I am shocked how Fiona Stanley seemingly gaslit me and treated me like c**p, when they are either being, in my opinion, lazy or simply do not care.

Why could they not perform the diagnoses like the private specialist especially when they practice the same medicine.

I wouldn’t trust the drs at Fiona Stanley especially after my experience.
