"My experience of attending Derby and Broome hospital with my child"

We attended Derby Emergency Department with my daughter with abdominal pain. The staff we saw were so friendly, professional and reassuring to my child who was a little anxious and in pain. The lovely locum DMO quickly assessed and referred us for an ultrasound. The locum sonographer was so lovely.

We were very quickly on an RFDS flight to Broome for suspected appendicitis. Derby hospital staff were amazing, explaining everything to myself and my child.

We had a further brilliant experience in Broome Emergency department with caring and professional nursing and medical staff. The nursing staff on the paediatric ward were so genuinely caring and helpful. I believe they were at capacity and so busy but the care my child received was second to none. She had surgery the next day and the anaesthetic team and surgical team were amazing, reassuring and good humoured. The recovery nurses were superb.

Overall we had a wonderful experience with amazing heath professionals and support staff we saw at both Derby and Broome hospitals. They all made me feel very supported and comfortable as a worried mum and were patient and kind to my child.

We always aim to provide a calm, reassuring environment, especially for young patients who may be feeling anxious. I am also pleased to hear that the care and professionalism you experienced in Broome, particularly in our Emergency Department, Paediatric Ward, and Operating Theatre, lived up to those same high standards.
