"An emergency that occurred whilst driving to Perth WA"

My wife and I were driving from our home in Busselton WA to Perth WA and we had only been on the road for 30 minutes after leaving our house at 10 am when my wife coughed into a handkerchief and was alarmed to see that she had filled the hanky with blood.

She is 86 years old and has had a lifetime of suffering from Bronchiectasis but this was unusual and not expected so we both agreed that we would continue our journey and stop at the emergency department at Bunbury hospital. We were admitted to the Triage area and very quickly she was sent to the X-ray department and after a short wait she was taken to have the X-ray taken.

We were then returned to the waiting area and very soon we were taken to a bed area where a doctor named Gracie took charge and she ordered an ECG to be performed where stickers were put all over my wife's chest and the doctor also inserted a Canula into her arm and then took some blood samples.

Doctor Gracie said she would get back to us after these test results were analysed. At that point I asked if we could go to the hospital café and get some food. Doctor Gracie then offered to bring us some sandwiches and said she would try and expedite our results. After a short space of time doctor Gracie came and said that she would prescribe a course of antibiotics to clear up the infection and that we could proceed to Perth if my wife felt well enough, so after filling the script at the hospital pharmacy we continued our journey. We estimated that we were at the Bunbury hospital for about three hours.
