"Medical visit to Jurien Bay Medical Centre WA"

About: Jurien Bay Health Centre

(as the patient),

I attended the Medical Centre at Jurien Bay suffering abdominal pain. The staff there were excellent and very caring. There are no GP's at the facility and consultations are managed via Telehealth links. I mainly dealt with the local nurse, Mandy, Who explained everything about how the centre operated and what facilities they had available. I know exactly what was going to happen and what to expect.

Mandy was very thorough with obtaining my vitals and observation checks with regards to my pain. These were sent through to an online GP who, via telelink, discussed her findings. The GP had Mandy run through additional tests while monitoring the procedures over the link.

It was identified that my abdominal pain was highly likely caused by a small ambilical hernia. Due to imaging equipment not being available it was recommended that If the pain persists for another 24 hours to attend the Emergency Dept in Geraldton (2.5hours north) and get an ultrasound done. This would ascertain the condition of the hernia and if necessary plan for further corrective action.

Overall I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and care the facility provided, both in person and online.

Dear Traveling retiree

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about the great care you received particularly from Mandy who has been an integral part of the Jurien Bay Health Centre team for many years. We have shared your lovely words with her.

And also, for the positive feedback about the Telehealth services. WA Country Health Service, Emergency Telehealth team provide fantastic support to the staff at regional sites as they care for patients together. Ensuring you had a clear plan for further care if needed is very important, it is great to see this was communicated so well to you.

I do hope you are feeling much better and are back on the road enjoying your travels.

Kind regards,

Rachele Ferrari
