"Car parking"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I am a current inpatient of ward 1A at the state rehab service (Fiona Stanley hospital). Given the long stays required for rehab, and the importance of staying connected to family, we can receive parking vouchers for discounted parking. You can ask for them from the ward clerk, and can have up to 1 per day. When I asked the ward clerk for vouchers recently, I was given 2 vouchers for the whole week. She told me the allocation of parking vouchers for the ward has decreased, and she only gets 50 vouchers per week. I can’t understand why we only get 50 vouchers for up to 35 patients. That’s not even close to 1 voucher per day per patient.  I would like to see the number of vouchers increased again so my family can visit at low costs.

Dear decembertn59,

Thank you for reaching out to me via Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear you are experiencing a long stay – but heartened to read that you are maintaining connection with your family.

Our process is that the subsidised parking vouchers are provided to patients on an as-needed basis, as long as the requirement has been substantiated and been requested via proper channels. We hold a set number of subsidised parking vouchers based on historical usage in each ward. A small number of vouchers are held centrally for circumstance where the ward supply is insufficient.

After discussion with the ward, I have been told they have a further 5 tickets ready for your collection. Please see the Ward 1A Ward Clerk when you are able.

I wish you the very best with your health and recovery moving forwards.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
