"Maternity Care"

About: Osborne Park Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth to my second child at Osborne Park Hospital, Western Australia.

Before my son was born, I was cared for antenatally by the MAPS team. This program allowed me to see the same midwife, Amanda, for all of my antenatal appointments, and the MAPS team for our home visits after the birth.

I feel so lucky to have been allocated into this program and the care I received was exceptional. Having the continuity of care from one midwife meant I did not have explain my pregnancy (which was overall smooth, however, one potential complication had to be further investigated) to a new midwife each visit. I felt supported, that Amanda was invested in me and my family, and I knew who I could contact if I had any issues or questions.

It would be fantastic if the MAPS program could be expanded so more expectant families can access this service.

I was also very impressed with the care provided by the maternity team in the assessment unit / labour suite and ward during my son's birth. I was very well cared for and supported throughout the whole experience.

Thank you.

Dear jackpotrn56

Congratulations on the birth of your son! It sounds like you had a wonderful experience with the MAPS team and the maternity staff at Osborne Park Hospital(OPH). Continuity of care, especially with a dedicated midwife like Amanda, can make such a difference in feeling supported and understood throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

It's great to hear that the MAPS program provided you with consistent and personalised care. Your feedback highlights the benefit of continuity of care models like MAPS, and it’s incredibly helpful to get feedback like yours to inform future service planning. We’ll be sure to pass on your kind words to Amanda and the maternity staff at OPH for their positive impact on your experience.

Kind regards,

Delaney
