After my first birth, I knew I wanted to have a VBAC for my subsequent pregnancy. When the time came around, and after a considerable amount of reading, I was confident the midwifery group practice at KEMH would give me the best opportunity to have my desired birth.
From our initial appointment, I felt extremely comfortable with my primary midwife, Bri, and this continued throughout my pregnancy. She was able to provide unbiased information and resources to ensure I was able to make informed decisions every step of the way.
I appreciated having the opportunity to have a few appointments with Holly, secondary midwife. It was comforting to know if Bri wasn’t available at the time of the birth, I would be well supported by someone I had met and was aware of my history.
Leading up to the birth, Bri and I had in-depth discussions around my preference for a low intervention labour and birth. I believe that having someone I trusted, who understood my birthing preferences and respected my wishes, was essential to achieving a successful VBAC.
My partner and I felt fully supported throughout the entire labour and birth experience. From the midnight call to let Bri know labour had begun, to the unwavering support and encouragement during delivery, and the postnatal home visits, the care we received was faultless.
I cannot thank Bri and Holly enough for their support in welcoming our little boy to our family. The experience and care I had with the KEMH MGP was nothing short of excellent. I wholeheartedly would recommend this model of care to any expecting mum.
