"Lack of Care - GP Access"

About: Swan Hill District Health Medical Centre

(as a service user),

The GP centre PHMC is very heavily booked. I understand that.

The staff advise to call at 8am to check for any cancellations.

I tried to call form 8am but the system went through a long drawn out message prior to transfer then errored and hung up. Thinking this might be congestion I waited 5 min and tried again. Same Error and hangup.

As the appointment was important, and not wanting to congest the ED, I tried calling reception. They were aware of the error. I asked if they could help. The staff member said I can transfer you again, but it will also error. When I said “How do I get through then ? “, I recall they simply said there is nothing we can do. So where do I go from there ?

Does this place have a working phone system ? It seems to be constantly failing, and they keep promising to fix it. Getting through to Xray has seemingly been impossible for years, now the GP has failed too.

I really feel this health service is getting worse on a daily basis. Not only are the systems falling over, but it seems the staff have no care either. I believe they know you have no option now, so don’t have to care.

If you were a business, I feel you would have gone broke many years ago.

All we want is somewhere to go that cares when we are sick.

Dear authenticmr66,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with our phone system and the challenges in securing an appointment. Your feedback is important to us, and we want to reassure you that we have taken immediate steps to improve our services.

Our IT team has resolved the issues with the phone system, and it is now fully operational. We are actively monitoring its performance to ensure it functions smoothly.

To address the high demand for appointments, we have engaged two locum doctors who are currently available to assist with patient care.

We are also glad to announce that four new doctors have been successfully recruited and will begin in February. This will significantly enhance our ability to meet the needs of our community.

We are committed to providing high-quality, accessible care and deeply value your patience as we work to improve our systems and capacity.
