"KEMH Family Birth Centre"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to give birth to a healthy baby girl at KEMH FBC. Although, it was this year that I gave birth and received postpartum care, my prenatal care started last year - when I met the most amazing midwife at the FBC. I had originally been seen by the midwives of the West Clinic, when I transferred across the the birth centre and was left feeling immediately welcomed, safe and supported. The amazing prenatal care continued through to postpartum and even now, I am still in touch with my midwife, and have utilised the MGP morning tea’s, as a way to meet other new mothers and feel supported.

Throughout labour and delivery, I was supported by my main midwife as I didn’t have a support person arrive until 20 minutes prior to birth. My secondary midwife was just as kind and took it upon herself to video my entire delivery for me - and this is something I still cherish! I honestly couldn’t thank my midwife enough, and birthing at the FBC was the best experience - I couldn’t recommend the FBC or KEMH, enough.

Dear fbc_mama

Congratulations on the birth of your baby girl, and thank you for sharing your beautiful experience! It sounds like you had an incredibly supportive and positive journey at the King Edward Memorial Hospital Family Birth Centre (FBC).

It’s wonderful to hear how the midwives made you feel welcomed, safe, and supported throughout your prenatal, labour, and postpartum care, and this shows the level of care and dedication they have. Building a community and support network is also so important, so it’s great that you have connected with other new mothers through the MGP morning teas.

We will be sure to pass your feedback to the FBC team, and I have no doubt your feedback will mean so much to them.

Best wishes,

Delaney
