"My parent's wait for a knee brace"

About: Narrogin Health Service

(as a relative),

My parent had a fall went to hospital was diagnosed with a fracture down the side of their right knee. Spent nearly a week in hospital waiting for a hinged knee brace only to be sent home without one as it had to be ordered in. Was sent home with another type of brace that didn’t give them much comfort. It then took over a week for the right brace to arrive. Didn’t feel over comfortable with the type of brace my parent was sent home with as it kept slipping down on them. And surely the wait time was far too long.

Dear Octoberdeal

I was sorry to hear of your parent’s recent experience with the Narrogin Health Service. I apologise the correct knee brace was not available to be fitted initially and for any discomfort the delay caused your parent.

I would like to advise you we intend to have at least 2 hinged knee braces available on site in future. Thank you for taking the time to post to Care Opinion and I hope your parent is recovering well after their fall.

Kind regards,

Jenny Menasse
