I recently gave birth to my first child. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in my care at CGHS. I had a wonderful experience throughout my pregnancy with the midwives at my antenatal appointments, they were so professional and knowledgeable, but also warm and friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I ended up choosing to be induced secondary to some medical issues and I felt really well informed by the obgyn when making this decision.
Because I was induced, I was on the wards for 2 nights before the induction process worked. I felt so well looked after throughout this process by all the midwives and staff on the wards.
My birth was an overall positive experience, even though induction wasn't my original plan. The midwives made sure my birth plan and wishes were known beforehand, they helped set up the environment and stuck to the birth plan throughout. They were so supportive and coached/supported me well throughout the birth. They gained informed consent for all processes.
Babies heart rate did temporarily drop towards the end of labour and the midwives were so quick with there response. The doctor (Dr Miras) that attended was also very friendly, professional and was very clear with there explanation of what was going on and recommended plans moving forward.
Once bubs arrived, the midwives were so supportive on the wards to help me and my husband find our feet with our first baby. I felt like I buzzed for the midwives so much, although they never made me feel bad or like my questions were silly and they were quick to respond to the buzzer.
Also the domiciliary and maternal health services once we returned home were fantastic.
Overall I just wanted to give a massive thank you to the whole team that supported my pregnancy and birth.
A special shout out to the midwives that assisted throughout my labour - Mel, Tracey, Jess, Crystal (student), Kate (both Kate's) and Ilvy - they were all so incredible.
