I waited 2 months for these procedures as wanted them done at RHW Randwick. My comments are positive but there’s a specific point that I would like to raise. I was anaesthetised on arrival in theatre so didn’t have the opportunity to meet the surgeon which was also the case after the procedures. I can appreciate that a surgeon’s time is allocated to do procedures not to have a chat with the patient.
I have since questioned who did the procedures and if they were done as requested. At an appointment I had 2 months ago I was told that a coil may be fitted if it was deemed necessary. Naturally I was curious to know if this had happened. The day following the procedures a nurse rang to check on my well being. I welcomed the opportunity to ask her to please confirm what had been done while I was under anaesthetic. She assured me that the procedures as requested were done and a biopsy taken.
My point…..I am reasonably medically savvy and don’t find hospitals intimidating. Were I a less confident patient I would certainly have wanted confirmation before leaving the hospital that the procedures plus any additional tweaks had been done.
It’s a small ask but one I believe would make a difference to a patient's over all experience.
I would like to say a big thank you to the staff for the care and attention that I was given.
