"Ankle surgery at SJOG Subi Ward 51"

About: St John of God Subiaco Hospital

(as the patient),

I have just come home from an overnight stay at SJOG Subiaco following a reconstructive ankle surgery, and I'd love to thank all the awesome staff! Checking in at DOSA was smooth, and the nurses and pharmacist in the surgery admissions unit were lovely and very efficient while still being super friendly.

My surgery went smoothly, and the lovely nurses I had in PACU (so sorry I can't remember your names, maybe Michelle?) were so good at keeping on top of my pain. When I got back up to the ward I got to try out the awesome room service catering, which was absolutely excellent my whole stay. Truly 10/10.

There was a minor hiccup with my belongings not arriving to the ward for several hours but my lovely nurse Kelly chased it up and they got found in the end.

I do wish that I was able to temporarily loan mobility equipment from physio on discharge as it would have made things a lot easier, as I just needed a Zimmer frame but was told that I had to source one myself which took a bit of calling around different companies and then picking it up after discharge.

My nurses overnight and in the morning on Ward 51 have been absolutely incredible- many thanks to Kelly, Hodan, and Emma, and student Toni-Ann. I am so grateful for their attentive and professional care and friendly positive attitudes. Happy Orthopaedic Nurses Week!
