"Infant admission BRH and transfer to PCH"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Bunbury Paediatric Ward Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department Perth Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I presented my 7mth old son at urgent care recently for hydration check as he had refused food and milk all day.

We were referred to Bunbury ED after he continued to vomit.

Nothing obvious was presenting, stats good and no fever but the ED doctor could tell we were concerned and our baby wasn't himself.

Fortunately, the ED doctor pushed for admission and we went over to the paediatric ward in the early hours of the morning.

The paeds doctor doing rounds the following morning (mature female who's name escapes me) and her team, Sam, Robbie, Matt and the nursing staff, especially Kate, were amazing.

The doctor really listen to our baby's symptoms.

The cause was found and required an RFDS transfer to PCH for treatment. The team split and conquered all the tasks involved, care and stabilisation, logistics, information and resources for us as parents . The lady in charge was a huge assurance for us.

Our care and treatment at Bunbury Children's Ward was fantastic. Thank you so very much for everything you all do!

PCH emergency team were brilliant. It was so daunting and scary being away from home under an emergency medical situation.

The surgical team that accepted us, and their colleagues in radiology, were fantastic.

Dear 2nd time mum,

Thankyou for taking the time to write such positive feedback regarding your 7 month old son. It was a joy to read your feedback and even more satisfying sharing your compliments with the paediatric nursing and medical teams.

All the medical and nursing teams at Bunbury Regional Hospital work very hard to provide the best standard of care for all the patients that present to our departments.

I am extremely delighted that your son's health journey was positive despite the frightening situation that no parent would ever want to be in that required an RFDS transfer.

I wish you and your family all the best and hope your son continues to improve and remain well.

Kindest Regards

Tania Murphy

Dear 2nd time Mum

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how stressful it can be for parents with an unwell child needing to be transported by the RFDS and I’m so pleased to hear about the excellent care you received from the PCH emergency, surgical and radiology teams.

We are extremely proud of the level of commitment our emergency and surgical teams bring to their roles and they will be delighted to receive such warm recognition. Your positive experience is a credit to them for their support for you and your family at that very difficult time.

We wish you all the very best and hope that your son is recovering well.

Warm regards

Nicky and Carrie
