"Care for toddler"

About: Mount Beauty Hospital / Urgent Care

(as a service user),

Our toddler had a bit of glass in his foot that we could not remove at home. We presented to Mount Beauty urgent care to have it removed. Our lad was not having a bit of having his blood pressure taken, as he was nervous and in pain. The nurse who looked after us, Mil, was great. Her reassurance and chat to our lad calmed him, and she was able to complete a brief assessment. The glass had to be removed by the Doctor. Dr Lauren arrived, and in an instant winkled out the glass. Both Mil and Dr Lauren were fantastic in how they dealt with our stroppy boy. He was left with a positive take to tell after the visit, which I think is a win.

HI Naiad86,

Thank you for telling us about your lad’s positive experience with our staff in Urgent Care.

An injury like this can create nervous feelings and uncertainty.

I am very pleased our staff were able to help your lad feel calm and the glass was removed quickly.

Our staff have appreciated hearing from you that they were fantastic.

I hope that your lad’s foot is healed and that he is running around and maybe sharing his positive experience story, with his friends, which may help allay their fears if they need to come to hospital.

Kind regards

Andrea Herrin
