A friend of mine was transferred from a regional hospital after suffering a stroke. Care there was exceptional this is the good news part of the story. They were then transferred to Kalgoorlie Health Campus, Medical Ward B. My friend finally got the occupational therapy they needed after receiving basic care again which they had in the first hospital. They were in medical ward for 3 weeks and had to ask to get their linen changed, this was not done and they ended up changing their own linen.
When my friend was discharged, they were not contacted or given a care plan. There was also no social work support to help with or explain the process with NDIS either. I feel it was like you're being discharged you are not our problem anymore. No care plan had been put in place or even a follow up call to my friend. I have found this lack of care and support from Kalgoorlie Regional Health Campus and associated Allied Health Services absolutely substandard and appalling.
