Amazing ED service!

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My 2 and a half year old has been sick for a few days but over night he went downhill fast and was showing symptoms I hadn’t personally dealt with before, so I went to ED just to be safe than sorry.

The nurse was amazing! So lovely and very understanding, was able to offer great advice before the doctor even came. (I think her name was Sam (New Zealand accent) 

The doctor (I think his name was Dan) was also amazing. He made me feel very comfortable in my decision on presenting to ED and offered great advice on these illnesses as a dad as well as a doctor. 

I left after 3 hours, with my boy perked up a bit after steroids and his fever down.

Just wanted to share an extremely positive experience, in what could have been so much more stressful! I felt heard, was so happy with the care my son received and how we left.

Thank you guys for all you do!! It is so appreciated.

Being a parent myself I can appreciate how anxious a sick child makes a parent feel. It’s always great to read a story like yours where the ED team have provided efficient and thorough care to a child, whilst providing compassionate support to the parents.

I am very proud of the care Sam and Dan provided you and your son, I will ensure they are provided with appropriate acknowledgment and appreciation from both yourself and the Hospital management team. I can see you have previously acknowledged great work by the Geraldton ED, it is reassuring to know we have consistently provided your family with high-quality care.
