After numerous ultrasounds, my child was found to be footling breech and continued to be at 38 weeks into my pregnancy. The midwives and doctors at Armadale Hospital explained in simple and straightforward terms what needed to happen for me to give birth safely.
My surgery was organised and booked relatively quickly but with enough time to let me understand and feel comfortable about the operation to be undertaken.
My C-Section was undertaken without an issues. I was nervous as I am terrible with needles at the best of times, however all of the doctors, nurses and midwives made me comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process.
The initial cannula insertion was painful and did cause bruising which took quite a while to heal. The insertion point is still a bit tender one month on. I did almost faint at that point however the nurse and my partner helped me through it (my music through my headphones helped somewhat). They did lie me down for a bit, so I didn't faint. After that the surgery went smoothly.
After the surgery, the midwives were wonderful. Always kind, answered any questions I had without making me feel silly and made sure I was recovering safely.
I was very happy with everyone I came in contact with at Armadale Health Services and in the Maternity Ward.
