"Care received at L4 NCCC Haematology Oncology Day Centre (HODC)"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / L4 NCCC - Haematology Oncology Day Centre (HODC)

(as the patient),

In remission for many years it was a shock to find that my pancreatic cancer had returned.

Bewildered and confused I was guided right from the start by an extraordinary team. Everyone from the Professor, nurse coordinators, specialists nurses and receptionists were fully onboard and delivers calm, coordinated and professional care. The team always working together, positive and interested both in me as the patient (making me feel relaxed and confident) but also taking great interest in their job as well as each other. Nothing ever seems to be to much trouble. Rearranging appointments between wards and professionals is again done easily, smart and with thought for the patient. Something that can become very stressful (for me) if not handled well.

Even when my treatment took all day from 10-6 there were still reassurances from the nurses that there was no rush - ‘we’re all here as long as it takes’ . Don’t worry.

The atmosphere on the ward is relaxed & comfortable and even the volunteers are such beautiful people, serving up sandwiches etc. with a smile!

As an active person putting everything on hold - it’s hard. However, knowing that there is a positive strengthening force helping you through these treatment cycles…makes all the difference. I thank all and everyone of you for making my day a brighter one! 🙏💜
