"Excessive billing"

About: Liverpool Hospital - Clinical Services Building Collection Centre

(as the patient),

I am a foreign citizen and was in Sydney for about 6 months on a visitor visa. One day I had severe constipation and gas formation, which made breathing difficult and was rushed to the Department of Emergency Medicine, Liverpool Hospital in Sydney (NSW 1871), where the attending doctors diagnosed the medical condition as epigastric discomfort, bloating and reflux symptoms, and hyponatremia. I was discharged after 4 hours (most of which time I spent on the hospital's waiting chairs) after the examination of BP, ECG and blood, diagnosis and emergency treatment by intravenous medication. For this I was charged AUD 2600. I consider this amount too high for the consultation and treatment given.
