I am pregnant with my first baby after a lengthy fertility treatment and have booked in to birth at Armadale as I've heard great things.
I had a scan and was sent upstairs to the assessment unit on maternity ward as they had concerns about how small my baby is. I was anxious and scared and walked upstairs with very little idea what would happen next.
I was met with kindness and compassion by a midwife Michelle who immediately took me into a room and calmed me down. She spent so much time talking through what this means for my pregnancy and what the plan would be and made me feel so safe and heard.
I heard they were on bypass and could see the amount of people waiting in the corridor and the emergency bells constantly going off and people being transferred out, but at no point was I made to feel like I was taking up their time and I felt like I had the opportunity to ask all the questions I needed to.
I could see Michelle going between the other waiting women and I believe she met each of them all with the same level of kindness despite clearly being very busy (as an ED nurse myself - I know what this feels like). She truly is a beautiful midwife and we feel so grateful for the care she gave us on that day.
I've been coming in frequently for monitoring and the care has been exceptional, thankyou so much to the Armadale team.
"Exceptional maternity care"
