"Margaret River Hospital ED"

About: Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter presented to the Margaret River Hospital ED earlier this month with gastro type symptoms. We went to the hospital expecting to receive pain and nausea meds but within an hour in the ED her symptoms had stopped so we made plans to leave.

Thankfully Dr Richard had taken on board the fact we mentioned this was her 4th "gastro" type episode in 8 months. He was able to gently suggested (to my very needle phobic teenager) to have bloods taken just to check. Thankfully his professional calm manner made her agree to the blood tests which showed an infection. Within a few hours we were at the Bunbury Hospital ED to have more tests which eventuated in the removal of her inflamed appendix. I am very grateful he suggested the blood test and that he was able to convince my daughter it was a good option to "just check.

We were due to fly up north to a more remote location, this week, which could have had a more scary outcome.

Thank you also to Nurse Elizabeth for calming "one worried mother" who was not expecting to be driving the 45km to Bunbury at midnight for her child to have an operation and for Nurse Brittney for the cup of coffee to keep me awake to get me there.

I am so grateful we have such lovely, caring, professional staff at our ED in the Margaret River hospital. Thank you all so much!!

Dear Wedocare,

Thank you for taking the time to share the details of your recent experience at the Emergency Department at the Margaret River Hospital.

The Emergency Department can be a busy and demanding environment and so providing feedback like yours is a great reminder of what matters most to families when their loved ones are in need of care.

Our staff are committed to providing high quality care and a great patient experience for all people when they need our services.

Your feedback underscores the things that are important to our patients and their families and a reminder too that timely care, empathy and communication is the key to a great patient experience.

It is always a pleasure to receive such positive feedback about the care provided and I will ensure that Dr Richard and Nurses Elizabeth and Brittney are provided with your feedback.

I do hope that your daughter has made a speedy recovery and is feeling much better.

Kind Regards,

Sandy Znidarsich
