"Quick action, compassion and amazing treament"

My daughter presented to the ED at Swan Hill District Health with symptoms of what I thought was a migraine. Within 10 minutes of us being there we had Drs and nurses tending to us and immediately starting investigations on finding a diagnosis.

Every step of the way I was included and informed of not just everything that was happening, but what the next steps might be. They began early treatment for meningitis even though the could not confirm this in Swan Hill as a lumbar puncture was not possible there.

The next day we were transferred to another hospital under the care of their paediatric team where the diagnosis of viral meningitis was confirmed. As treatment had already begun my daughter had improved so much that Drs said she was already on the mend. They credited the staff at SHDH with their quick thinking stating that they played an immensely important role in her recovery.

I have never felt so informed, included and involved before and I am in awe of the staff that helped us in our time in the hospital there. My daughter was so calm throughout also thanks to them. I cannot express my gratude and thanks enough for everything they have done for us.
